Pavol Dubina

BIOGRAPHY

Pavol Dubina (PALI DUB), now a well-established sculptor of the young generation, was born in Bratislava in 1975. After graduating from the School of Applied Arts in Bratislava in the field of monumental mason (1990-1994) he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava (19942000).

In his own free statue he prefers metal especially welded iron in an intimate format. The preference of substance over form explains Dubina's little suggestibility by visuals of any of the current or past artistic movements, and vice versa his dominant drawing of inspiration from literary and musical resources.
Since 2004, playing with completely different emotions represents his gradually enlarging series of animal sculptures in both intimate and monumental scales, unprecedented at today's Slovakian sculptural scene. Breakthrough years of Dubina's carrier were 2006-2007, when significant monumental outdoor realizations were created.

The sculptor Pavol Dubina has already undergone a few authors and several collective exhibitions, thanks to which art lovers could see his work not only in Slovakia but also in, for example, Austria (Kitsee 1996), Germany (Lűbeck 1999) or Italy (Roma, Umbertide 2006).
